Highlights of What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Group Controller, you will manage compensation, commission, benefits, recognition programs, and performance management systems. A typical day will involve:

  • Compensation Management and Benchmarking:
  • Develop and maintain competitive compensation structures that align with Company goals
  • Conduct regular market analysis to ensure competitive salary ranges
  • Assist in salary review processes and performance-based compensation adjustments

 

Policy Development, Implementation, and Compliance:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of total rewards policies and procedures
  • Ensure all compensation practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements; maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and best practices
  • Develop guidelines and documentation to support compensation programs and processes

 

Payroll Management:

  • Administer payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries and wages

 

Commission and Bonus Calculations:

  • Administer commission and bonus plans and ensure accurate calculation and timely payment  of commission and bonuses

 

Benefits Administration:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs
  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors and brokers

 

Recognition and Rewards Programs:

  • Design and implement employee recognition programs that drive engagement and performance, including for remote teams
  • Develop and manage non-monetary recognition programs and initiatives

 

Performance Management:

  • Support the implementation and administration of performance management systems; provide guidance on processes and tools
  • Ensure alignment of performance management with total rewards strategy

 

Employee Communication and Support:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to compensation, payroll, and commissions; ensure alignment with Company goals in all communication

 

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Partner with executives, leaders, and HR to ensure compensation practices align with business objectives
  • Assist in the development and administration of incentive programs and other variable pay plans

 

What You’ll Bring Along

Must-Haves:

  • 2-5 years of experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits administration
  • Degree in accounting, human resources, business administration, or a related field, or a combination of work experience and education
  • Highly self-motivated; ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on knowledge of compensation analysis and HRIS systems; familiarity with Rise People is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, provincial, and local compensation and benefits laws and regulations
  • A straight shooter with the ability to manage up as well as across
  • Tech savvy; highly comfortable with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, Outlook, PPT)
  • Highly organized and self-disciplined; ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage expectations
  • Demonstrated balance of IQ and EQ
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Advanced education in a business discipline, accounting, or accreditation as a Payroll Compliance Professional is an asset

 

What We’ll Give You

Salary:

  • $65,000-$75,000 per year

This is a hybrid position, working on-site at our office in Gastown 3 or more days per week.
