Arc’teryx Builds and Protects Its Digital Presence in China

How WPIC helped Arc’teryx create a locally optimised China website, connect consumers with its Tmall store, and strengthen online brand protection.

About Arc’teryx

Arc’teryx is a Canadian outdoor apparel and equipment brand known for its technical performance clothing, including Gore-Tex shell jackets.

The company worked with WPIC to strengthen its digital presence in China while protecting the premium brand experience from counterfeit products, trademark infringement, and unauthorised sellers.

Creating a Premium Digital Experience for China

Arc’teryx needed a China website that reflected the same premium positioning as its global brand while working effectively within the local digital environment.

The site needed to load quickly for users in China, meet local hosting and regulatory requirements, perform well on mobile devices, and connect shoppers with Arc’teryx’s Tmall store for transactions and fulfilment.

It also needed to preserve the brand’s visual identity rather than feel like a stripped-down local adaptation.

Building the China Website

WPIC worked with Arc’teryx’s global and China teams to plan and develop the site around strong imagery, clean product presentation and straightforward navigation.

The website was locally hosted and configured for China’s digital environment, including compatibility with local search engines and the removal of dependencies on services that were inaccessible in-market.

WPIC also handled the technical migration and search considerations around the launch, including URL mapping, redirects, and tagging designed to preserve existing search visibility.

To support local hosting, WPIC managed the documentation and application process required for ICP registration and configured Arc’teryx’s in-market server infrastructure.

The site then connected consumers with Arc’teryx’s Tmall presence to complete purchases.

Protecting the Brand Across Digital Channels

Alongside the website project, WPIC analysed Arc’teryx’s wider digital presence to identify unauthorised sellers, counterfeit goods, and instances of trademark or copyright infringement.

Using WPIC’s proprietary data technology, WPIC indexed relevant listings and sellers across major Chinese platforms and developed approved and restricted seller lists. The findings gave Arc’teryx greater visibility into where its brand and products were appearing online and provided a basis for enforcement activity across platforms including Tmall and Taobao.

Ongoing monitoring was important because infringing sellers could reappear under new store names or listings after an initial removal.

The Results

WPIC delivered Arc’teryx’s China website in time for major e-commerce periods, including Singles’ Day, while establishing the local hosting, compliance and technical infrastructure required to support it.

The project gave Arc’teryx a digital experience designed specifically for consumers in China while maintaining the visual standards of the global brand.

At the same time, marketplace monitoring and brand-protection work gave the company greater control over unauthorised sellers, and infringing products appearing alongside its official digital presence.

Together, the two initiatives strengthened both how Arc’teryx presented itself online in China and how effectively it could protect that presence.
