How WPIC helped Workday take direct control of its ICP registrations and reduce dependency on its China hosting provider.
Workday is a U.S. enterprise software company providing cloud-based applications for areas including financial management and human capital management.
The company partnered with WPIC to resolve an ownership issue affecting the regulatory registrations associated with several of its websites in China.
Operating locally hosted websites in China requires the appropriate Internet Content Provider registrations.
Workday’s existing ICP registrations had been managed through its internet service provider as part of the hosting arrangement. This meant control of important digital assets was closely tied to a third party.
If Workday wanted to change hosting providers or restructure its China web infrastructure, that arrangement could create unnecessary complexity and limit the company’s control over its own digital operations.
Workday wanted to bring those registrations under its direct control.
WPIC reviewed the existing setup and led the legal, administrative and documentation processes required to transfer control of the registrations associated with Workday’s website instances.
The work involved coordinating the necessary documentation and navigating local regulatory requirements so Workday could separate ownership of its ICP registrations from its hosting relationship.
WPIC also advised the company on how to structure its digital assets to reduce the risk of similar dependencies developing in the future.
Workday regained direct control of the ICP registrations associated with its China websites.
Separating these regulatory assets from the hosting arrangement gave the company greater flexibility over future hosting and infrastructure decisions while establishing a more resilient framework for managing its digital presence in China.
