As of June 1, 2026, China’s new food import framework (GACC Decree 280) takes effect, and Chinese customs has confirmed that pet nutrition sold to Chinese consumers via crossborder e-commerce platforms (like Tmall Global and JD Worldwide) will clear as “personal-use articles”.
That means no GACC overseas-producer registration, no MARA pet-food registration, and no Chinese on-pack label required.
For international pet food and pet supplement brands, this creates a significantly faster path into the Chinese market, without the former product certifications and factory registrations, which historically hindered overseas brands.
It also opens a rare early mover window for brands looking to establish a strong foothold.
